GM Rides runs long-distance transfers between London and Birmingham Airport, roughly 110 miles apart by road, taking you to your flight or bringing you back to London afterwards. The airport has a single terminal, and the fixed price is shown before you book.

All arriving and departing flights use one terminal. Outside it, signs point to check-in Zones A, B, C and D depending on your airline, so it helps to know your zone before you are dropped off.
From the airport’s airline directory:
The arrivals door is beside the Zone A entrance. Your driver meets you in arrivals with a name board, and their details reach you 30 minutes before pick-up. The free Air-Rail Link monorail runs from the terminal to Birmingham International station in about a minute and a half.
The roads around the terminal are red routes: stopping there, even to drop someone off, brings a £100 enforcement charge (£50 if paid within 14 days). Cars use the car parks instead.
Right outside the terminal and for dropping off only. Since 6 August 2026 it costs £8 for up to 15 minutes, £13 up to 20 and £25 up to 30. There are no barriers: pay at the card-only machines on site, online within 24 hours of leaving, or through an NCP AutoPay account, or a Parking Charge Notice follows.
About 400 metres from the terminal, a 5 to 10 minute walk, and free for the first 10 minutes, then £7 up to 15 minutes. Coming back within the hour loses the free 10 minutes. A free bus runs to the terminal from Car Park 5, across the road.
The airport recommends Car Park 5, a 5 to 10 minute walk, from £12 for up to an hour. Car Park 1 is a one-minute walk and also charges £12 for the first hour; Blue Badge holders get 30 minutes free there.
Charges and rules as published on birminghamairport.co.uk, as of September 2026. The airport can change them, so check its website before you travel.
The airport’s own directions from London are the M40 and then the M42: leave the M42 at junction 6 and follow the A45 to the airport. The M1 and M6 are the other common route. The airport itself is about 8 miles east of Birmingham city centre.
Allow around 2 to 3 hours from central London. The airport says congestion builds between 07:30 and 09:00 and between 16:30 and 18:00, especially on the M6 and M42, so leave extra time then.
