Heathrow is around 15 miles west of central London, with four passenger terminals reached from the M4 and M25. GM Rides picks up and drops off at Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 at any hour of the day or night, and the fixed price is shown before you book.
Heathrow terminals and airlines
Four terminals are in use. Terminal 1 closed to passengers on 29 June 2015 and is being demolished. Whichever terminal you land at, your driver waits in its arrivals hall holding a name board.
Terminal 3
Virgin Atlantic’s hub, shared with Delta, American Airlines, Emirates and Cathay Pacific. Some British Airways routes also leave from Terminal 3, so check your booking.
Terminal 4
Used by Qatar Airways, Etihad, KLM, Air France and Vueling. The terminal stays open during building works, but its multi-storey car park closed on 23 June 2026.
Terminal 5
British Airways’ main Heathrow base, which it shares with Iberia. Terminal 5 has its own access road from junction 14 of the M25.
Heathrow drop-off and pick-up rules
Heathrow charges for every drop-off at a terminal and does not allow pick-ups at the kerb. These are the airport’s own rules.
Terminal Drop-Off Charge
Any vehicle entering a terminal drop-off area pays £7, every time it enters, 24 hours a day. The charge went up from £6 on 1 January 2026. Cameras read number plates and there are no barriers, so it is paid afterwards (online, by phone or by autopay) by midnight the next day. An unpaid charge becomes an £80 parking charge, reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days. Blue Badge holders can apply for a 100% discount.
Collecting arriving passengers
Pick-ups and waiting are not allowed on the terminal forecourts. At Terminals 2, 3 and 5, cars collect from the Terminal Parking car parks, a two-minute walk from the doors, where up to 29 minutes costs £8. The Park & Ride car parks are free for the first 29 minutes and connect to the terminals by shuttle bus.
Terminal 4 during the works
With its car park closed, Terminal 4 has a Priority Pick-Up area outside the arrivals hall: £7 for up to 10 minutes and £14 for up to 29. Zone A of the Park & Ride car park offers free pick-ups, with a shuttle every five minutes. Heathrow says private hire vehicles pick up and drop off at Terminal 4 as normal.

Driving between Heathrow and central London
Which way
Terminals 2 and 3 are signposted from junction 4 of the M4 and junction 15 of the M25. Terminal 4 is reached from M25 junction 14 on the A3113, and Terminal 5 has its own road from the same junction. Into town, the usual route is the M4 and then the A4 through west London.
How long it takes
Heathrow advises allowing at least an hour by car to central London. Weekday rush hours on the M4 and A4 can make it longer, so leave extra time before an evening flight.
Other airports
Gatwick is about 45 miles away by the M25 and M23, and Luton about 40 miles by the M25 and M1. Each is roughly an hour on clear roads; allow longer at busy times.
