Luton has a single two-storey terminal building. Since March 2023 the Luton DART shuttle train has linked it with Luton Airport Parkway station, 2.3 km away, in about four minutes, 24 hours a day.

Luton Airport is about 32 miles north-west of central London and two miles from junction 10 of the M1, with every flight using one terminal. GM Rides covers the route in both directions at any hour, and you see the fixed price before you pay.
Luton’s terminal, airlines and the DART

Your driver meets you inside the terminal, in arrivals, holding a name board. Their name, photo, phone number and car details are sent to you 30 minutes before pick-up.
Luton drop-off and pick-up charges
Luton uses one Drop Off and Pick Up Zone for both, on the ground floor of Terminal Car Park 2.
The Drop Off and Pick Up Zone
The zone is a five-minute walk (about 260 metres) from the terminal, through a tunnel under the road. It costs £9 for up to 12 minutes, then £1 a minute, with a 30-minute maximum; staying longer brings a £95 enforcement charge, reduced to £55 if paid within 14 days. The system is barrier-free: cameras log the car, and the charge is paid online by midnight the following day. Drivers must not leave their vehicle.
Free and longer options
The Long Stay car park is free for up to 2 hours, with a shuttle bus to the terminal every 20 minutes, around the clock. For a longer wait close by, Terminal Car Parks 1 and 2 charge £15 for up to 30 minutes (prices from 22 June 2026). Blue Badge holders get no discount in the zone but have 30 minutes free in Terminal Car Park 1, a four-minute walk away over a footbridge.

Driving between Luton and London
Which way
Almost the whole drive is on the M1; the airport is close to both the M1 and the M25. Leave the M1 at junction 10 and the airport is two miles further on. For the drop-off zone, Luton advises using the postcode LU2 9QT, then ignoring the sat-nav at the roundabout before the tunnel and following the Drop Off / Pick Up signs.
How long it takes
Allow roughly 60 to 90 minutes to central London outside the rush hours. North-west London, where the M1 begins, is nearer: often under an hour with clear roads.
Other airports
Heathrow is about 39 miles away by the M1 and M25, roughly an hour with clear roads, and Stansted about 43 miles to the east.
