Manchester Airport terminals in 2026

Manchester now uses two terminals for passenger flights. Terminal 1 closed once its airlines had moved out, by 19 November 2025, and the car parks were renumbered P1 to P16 on 5 March 2026.

Terminal 2

Every airline except Ryanair, including British Airways, easyJet, Jet2.com, TUI, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Etihad, KLM, Lufthansa, Aer Lingus and Turkish Airlines.

Terminal 3

Ryanair only. Ryanair passengers check in through the Terminal 3 Departures entrance, which used to be called Terminal 1 Departures A.

Between the terminals

Walking from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 takes 5 to 15 minutes, with moving walkways on parts of the route. Your driver waits for you in arrivals at your terminal, holding a name board.

Manchester drop-off and pick-up charges

Forecourt drop-off

Both terminals charge the same: £5.50 for 5 minutes, £6.50 for 10 minutes and £25 for up to 30 minutes, the maximum stay. There are no barriers, so the charge is paid online or by phone by midnight the following day; after that a £100 Parking Charge Notice follows, reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. Picking anyone up in the drop-off zone costs £100. Blue Badge holders drop off free.

Pick-ups

Each terminal has an Express Pick Up zone a short walk away, costing £6.60 for up to 15 minutes, the maximum, with a £60 charge for overstaying. For Terminal 2 the signs say P3; for Terminal 3, T3 Express Pick Up. The airport says all private hire operators pick up from these common areas. Anyone meeting passengers inside parks in the short stay car parks instead.

Free drop-off

The free drop-off area is at JetParks 1 on Thorley Lane, signposted from the M56. A free shuttle bus runs from there to the terminals around the clock, taking about six minutes.

Charges and rules as published on manchesterairport.co.uk, as of September 2026. The airport can change them, so check its website before you travel.

Driving between London and Manchester Airport

Which way

The usual route is north on the M1 or M40 to the M6, then west on the M56 to junction 5, where the airport is signposted. The airport points out that the M6 Toll can shorten the trip around Birmingham.

How long it takes

Manchester Airport’s own guide puts the drive to or from London at 3 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours, depending on traffic around Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford and London. For a morning departure that means an early start, so choose a pick-up time that leaves room for check-in.
