Meeting your driver
The airport requires pre-booked private hire cars to pick up and drop off in one of its car parks, not at the kerb. Your driver meets you in the terminal with a name board and walks you to the car. For the drive south we track your flight, so a late landing does not add waiting charges.
Liverpool Airport drop-off and pick-up charges
Liverpool’s drop-off car parks have barriers: you pay on the way out, by card or cash, rather than online afterwards.
Express Drop-off and Pick-up
Directly opposite the terminal and the closest point to it: turn left at the roundabout as you approach the terminal (postcode L24 1YD). From 1 September 2026 it costs £7 for up to 10 minutes, £10 for up to 20 minutes and £25 for up to an hour. Spaces can’t be reserved. Travelling passengers with a Blue Badge can claim up to 40 minutes free.
Drop-off 2 and Short Stay
Drop-off 2, to the right at the same roundabout and a seven-minute walk from the terminal, is free for up to 20 minutes and then £9 up to an hour; coming back in within two hours costs at least £9. For longer, the Short Stay car park inside the multi-storey charges £10 for 30 minutes and £15 for an hour.

Driving between London and Liverpool Airport
Which way
From London, head north on the M1 or M40 to the M6; the airport itself links to the M57, M62 and M56. It gives two ways on from the M6. The untolled one leaves at junction 21A for the M62 west, then follows the A5300 Knowsley Expressway and the A561 Speke Boulevard. The other takes the M56 from junction 20 and crosses the Mersey Gateway Bridge, a toll bridge with number-plate cameras instead of barriers.
How long it takes
Allow around 4 to 5 hours between central London and the airport, more with heavy traffic on the M6. The airport also warns of roadworks: the eastbound exit slip at junction 6 of the M62 is closed until spring 2027, with a diversion via junction 7.
