Welcome to GM Rides Gatwick Airport Transfer Service

Gatwick lies 28 miles south of London, joined to the M23 at junction 9, and has two terminals, North and South. GM Rides meets arriving flights at both and takes departing passengers to the right one, day or night, for a fixed fare you can see before booking.

Gatwick North and South Terminals

Your airline decides the terminal; these are the main ones on Gatwick’s own list. Your driver waits for you in the arrivals area of your terminal, holding a name board.

North Terminal

easyJet, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, WestJet, Icelandair and JetBlue. TUI flights with numbers starting TOM also use the North Terminal.

South Terminal

British Airways, Ryanair, Jet2, Wizz Air, Norwegian, Norse Atlantic, Turkish Airlines, Air France, TAP and Vueling, plus TUI flights numbered BY. Gatwick’s railway station is at the South Terminal too.

Getting between them

A free shuttle links North and South in about two minutes. It runs every few minutes, 24 hours a day, and you can take luggage trolleys on board.

Gatwick drop-off and pick-up charges

Gatwick charges for its drop-off zones and wants every pick-up to happen in a car park, not at the kerb.

Drop-off zones

Each terminal has a drop-off zone on the lower level; at North it sits between the Sofitel and the multi-storey car park. It costs £10 for up to 10 minutes, then £1 a minute, and the longest stay is 30 minutes. There are no barriers: cameras log the car, and the charge is paid online, by phone or by AutoPay by midnight the day after. A missed payment brings a £100 Parking Charge Notice, reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. Registered Blue Badge holders are exempt.

Pick-ups

Picking up in the drop-off zones is not allowed. Gatwick asks drivers to collect from its Short Stay car parks, at £8 for up to 30 minutes and £14 up to an hour, or from its express pick-up areas: Car Park 6, level 4, at North and Car Park 3, ground floor, at South. Drivers there must stay with their car.

Charges and rules as published on gatwickairport.com, as of September 2026. The airport can change them, so check its website before you travel.

Driving between Gatwick and London

Which way

Leave the M23 at junction 9 and follow the signs: straight on at the J9a roundabout for North, left for South. The M25 is about 10 minutes from the airport. From central London the drive is around 30 miles, either down the A23 through south London or round the M25 to the M23.

How long it takes

Outside busy times, allow 60 to 75 minutes to central London. Gatwick’s own guide puts the average road journey to King’s Cross at about 1 hour 45 minutes and warns that traffic and roadworks change it, so allow more for north London and for weekday rush hours.

Gatwick to Heathrow

The two airports are about 45 miles apart by the M23 and M25, roughly an hour when the roads are clear. If you are catching a connecting flight, leave extra time for busy periods.
